Honey Garlic Salmon Recipe With Asparagus
(Sweet, savory, and perfectly flaky.)
A healthy, flavorful sheet pan dinner with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients.
- 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin on or off
- 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
How to Make This.
- Preheat Oven & Prepare Tray: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large ceramic baking tray or sheet pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Asparagus: In a medium bowl, toss the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread the asparagus in a single layer on one side of the prepared baking tray.
- Prepare Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt, freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp smoked paprika. Place the salmon fillets on the other side of the baking tray, leaving some space between them.
- Make Honey Garlic Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Glaze & Bake: Brush about half of the honey garlic glaze over the salmon fillets. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the asparagus is tender-crisp. Cooking time will vary based on the thickness of your salmon.
- Final Glaze & Serve: Once cooked, remove the tray from the oven. Brush the remaining glaze over the salmon. Serve immediately.
Tips.
- Don’t Overcook Salmon: Salmon cooks quickly. Watch it carefully to ensure it remains moist and tender.
- Even Cooking: Ensure asparagus is in a single layer for even roasting. If your tray is too crowded, use two trays.
- Customizable Veggies: Broccoli florets, bell pepper strips, or cherry tomatoes can be added alongside the asparagus.
Why Make This?
This ceramic tray bake offers a fantastic way to prepare a complete, healthy, and incredibly flavorful meal with minimal cleanup. The honey garlic glaze caramelizes beautifully on the salmon, creating a sweet and savory crust, while the asparagus roasts to tender-crisp perfection. It’s a comforting dish that feels gourmet but is surprisingly simple, making it ideal for busy weeknights or when you want a wholesome meal without much fuss.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS.
Serve this honey garlic glazed salmon and asparagus as a complete meal on its own.
For a heartier option, pair it with a side of quinoa, brown rice, or a light couscous salad.
A wedge of lemon for squeezing over the salmon adds a bright, fresh finish.
